Dr. Sumarni was awarded the Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) Grant to carry out work on the facile synthesis and application of bamboo-derived graphene oxide for the adsorption of emerging contaminants in the Kereh River. A sum of 400,000 JPY, equivalent to approximately RM11,477, was allocated by Japan for research on the topic.
