Dr. Zakir Khan is a Senior Lecturer in the Bioprocess Technology Division at the School of Industrial Technology, USM. He is a Chemical Engineer with over 15 years of academic, research, and industrial experience across Pakistan and the UK. In addition to his academic role, he provides international consultancy in waste-to-hydrogen/energy technologies. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK. He is also a Senior Member of the International Association of Carbon Capture (IACC), UK reflecting his commitment to advancing carbon capture and sustainable energy technologies.

Dr. Zakir Khan's research interests focus on developing innovative technologies for converting biomass and waste (MSW) into renewable hydrogen, biofuels, and clean energy. His work spans biomass gasification, thermochemical conversion, chemical reactor design, carbon capture integration, and the development of laboratory and pilot-scale systems for sustainable energy production and industrial applications. He has received numerous international awards, including the Exceptional Contributions Research Award from the University of Glasgow, UK, and is the inventor of a patented technology for hydrogen production from biomass.
