"Transforming bioresources into knowledge, innovation, and sustainable solutions."

Expertise:

  1. Wood Furniture Design and Technology
  2. Bio Composites and Hybrid Composites
  3. Biomass Products
  4. Material Processing

Dr. Nur Izzaati Saharudin is a Senior Lecturer in Bioresource Technology at the School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). With an academic background in Furniture Technology, she brings a distinctive material-, product-, and application-oriented perspective to the field of bioresource technology. Her research focuses on the sustainable utilisation and value-added conversion of lignocellulosic resources, particularly bamboo, natural fibres, and biomass-derived materials, for the development of sustainable materials and products.
Her research interests encompass wood furniture design and technology, bio-composites, biomass products, and material processing. She integrates material processing with physical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, and morphological characterisation to understand the relationships between processing conditions, material structure, properties, and potential end-use applications. Her current research interests include the modification and utilisation of lignocellulosic materials, development of bio-based and recycled-material composites, and value-added utilisation of biomass-derived components. Through her research and teaching, she aims to bridge bioresource materials, processing, and product applications while contributing to sustainable resource utilisation, circular material development, and innovation in bioresource-based industries.
