I am an Associate Professor at the School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, a Master of Science in Safety, Health and Environment from the National University of Singapore, and a PhD in Environmental Management from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

I am a registered Professional Technologist, an accredited Ergonomic Risk Assessor, and a Professional Accredited Trainer, actively engaged in professional practice alongside my academic role. My professional credentials reflect applied expertise in occupational safety and health, ergonomic risk evaluation, and workplace hazard assessment.

My work bridges engineering, environmental science, occupational health, and the social dimensions of risk. I emphasise integrating technical, behavioural, and governance perspectives to address occupational and environmental safety challenges. I have led and contributed to research on workplace musculoskeletal disorders, chemical health risk assessment, indoor air quality, construction safety, and environmental contamination, embedding social risk, human factors, and policy considerations into technical assessment frameworks. My work reflects a transdisciplinary orientation that connects engineering analysis, public health, community engagement, and institutional safety governance.

My research interests centre on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary integration in occupational safety and environmental risk management. I focus on ergonomics, workplace musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), chemical and environmental exposure assessment, and industrial safety systems, incorporating social risk factors, behavioural dimensions, and governance mechanisms into risk modelling and prevention strategies. I am particularly interested in combining biomechanical analysis, environmental exposure science, and socio-organisational frameworks to develop holistic, systems-based approaches for improving workplace health, safety performance, and sustainable development outcomes.

 TEACHING AND LEARNING

My teaching philosophy integrates technical rigour with real-world relevance, reflecting my interdisciplinary background in engineering, health sciences, environmental management, and governance. I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Legislation, Environmental Audit, Research Methodology, Disaster Management, and Industrial Training. My approach emphasises systems thinking, experiential learning, and evidence-based analysis, incorporating motion capture technology, risk assessment modelling, and case-based governance frameworks into classroom delivery. Through supervising MSc and PhD candidates, conducting research projects, and providing industry-linked training, I cultivate analytical competence, professional ethics, and applied problem-solving skills aligned with sustainable development priorities.

My expertise framework integrates Engineering, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, and Environmental Sciences within a Quintuple Helix ecosystem that connects university, industry, government, community, and the natural environment. In my teaching, I translate this integration into structured learning that links biomechanical analysis, exposure assessment, governance principles, and sustainability concepts with real-world applications. This approach ensures that students not only understand technical risk assessment but also appreciate its policy, societal, and environmental implications, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to national priorities and sustainable development.
