Inductive Couple Plasma - Optical Emission Spectroscopy
Instrument Status: OK
Date Updated: 22 April 2022
Instrument Information
Brand and Model: Perkin Elmer
Description: Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) is an argon plasma maintained by the interaction of an RF fieldand ionized argon gas. The plasma can reach temperatures as highas 10,000 ̊K, allowing the complete atomization of the elements ina sample and minimizing potential chemical inteferences. Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy(ICP-OES) is the measurement of the light emitted by the elementsin a sample introduced into an ICP source. The measured emission intensities are then compared to the intensities of standards of known concentration to obtain the elemental concentrations in the unknown sample.
