MISI H2O : EXCLUSIVE INDUSTRY VISIT

LOJI RAWATAN AIR SUNGAI DUA, 10 JUNE 2026 – The Industrial Technology Society (TISOC) was excited to bring Industrial Technology (TI) students on an eye-opening industry visit, MISI H2O! This programme served as a perfect opportunity for students to step out of the classroom and explore real-world industrial applications in an engaging environment. Participants had the chance to learn the inner workings of a major water treatment plant, connect with industry professionals, explore how their TI studies apply to essential public services, and take part in an interactive facility tour designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Students observed the complex water treatment processes up close, exchanged insights on environmental technology, and dived into the practical realities of industrial operations. From exploring the plant's massive facilities to understanding the strategic management of our daily water supply between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, the day was all about gaining industry exposure, building technical knowledge, and feeling the TISOC vibes LIVE in the field! With a low registration fee of just RM 12 and MyCSD support, it wasn’t just a field trip ,it was an educational experience to remember.
This programme wasn’t just about touring a facility , it was about building practical understanding, analytical skills, and professional connections. Students learned to understand operations across different plant departments, collaborated with peers to analyze industrial systems, and thought critically about sustainability. Industry experts shared their real-world tips and experiences, helping students connect their university syllabus to future career paths more clearly. By the end of the visit, participants not only felt more inspired and knowledgeable, but also gained a taste of what it means to be a future industrial technologist where learning, innovation, and real-world impact go hand in hand.

We were privileged to be accompanied by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohamad Anuar Kamaruddin from the School of Industrial Technology, who joined us as our accompanying lecturer to help bridge our academic syllabus with the live industrial processes we were witnessing. As captured in the group photo, the participants were fully engaged and enjoyed a successful learning experience outside the classroom.

During this industrial visit, participants were given an exclusive, close-up look at the plant's core operations! We were guided through the expansive facility, navigating the walkways right alongside the massive filtration and sedimentation tanks. As we moved through the complex, the roaring sounds of high-capacity water pumps and heavy machinery created a truly immersive industrial atmosphere. Despite the loud operational noise, students had to focus intensely to absorb the detailed explanations provided by the plant engineers and our accompanying lecturers regarding the intricate stages of water purification. This eye opening experience highlighted the incredible scale of engineering required to manage a state's water supply and gave students a realistic feel of the strict safety protocols and communication required in an active, real-world industrial setting.

Before stepping into the plant’s operational zones, the visit kicked off with a comprehensive safety briefing to ensure all participants fully understood the on-site safety protocols and emergency guidelines. Following this, students were given an in-depth presentation regarding the organizational structure of the water management company and the state's overall water supply chain. The plant representatives highlighted critical information regarding the primary sources of raw water flowing into the facility and meticulously explained each phase of the water treatment process, ranging from initial screening and chemical coagulation to the final filtration stages. This interactive theoretical session provided students with a solid foundational understanding of the engineering involved before they proceeded to witness these mechanical and chemical operations live out in the field.
