International Learning Innovation Competition (PIP 2019)
Gold medal award in the International Learning Innovation Competition (PIP 2019)!!
Faris Aiman Norashiddin from Environmental Technology Division, School of Industrial Technology Universiti Sains Malaysia received a gold medal award in the International Learning Innovation Competition (PIP 2019) which was held at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) on 30-31 July 2019. The symposium attracted more than 300 inventions locally and internationally.
The research product was developed by ECO-PRO USM led by Professor Dr Mahamad Hakimi Ibrahim, Dr Mohamad Anuar Kamaruddin and Mr Muhamad Hamzah Hamid was presented by Postgraduate student, Mr Faris Aiman Norashiddin through a poster presentation session and judged by national juries. The product, a framework of "K2K: Kompos to Kelulut" was developed, which aims to restore the nutrients and reintroduce the natural ecosystem back to the soil to reduce the effects of climate change and global warming. With the main focus of waste reduction and waste transformation, various products can be produced and the restoration of the natural ecosystem is reintroduced through the implementation of this framework. This framework has been implemented which can be seen through research and examples at the Rooftop Garden and also our very own Bukit TI. This framework also supports the Green Agenda for a sustainable solid waste management in Malaysia as well as making positive progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
