This Malayan Sugar Manufacturing (MSM) Fellowship is reserved for outstanding and qualified individuals who pursue a Master's degree in any subject offered by the School of Industrial Technology. The fellowship quantum is RM30,000 per annum for a period of 2 years. It covers tuition fee (RM7,000 per annum), salary/allowances (RM1,500 for 12 months = RM18,000 per annum) and research expenses (RM5,000 per annum).

MSM Fellowship Application Requirements/Selection Criteria

1. This MSM Fellowship is awarded to postgraduate students pursuing or planning to pursue a Master’s Degree at the School of Industrial Technology, USM.
2. Newly registered postgraduates (less than 6 months from the registration date) are encouraged to apply and final year graduating students may also apply.
3. The applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree with a CGPA of, at least 3.25 in the relevant fields.
4. The applicants must be a Malaysian who is not more than 30 years old in the year of application
5. The applicant must not be bonded to or be in receipt of any financial aids, or awards from other organization/institutions for his/her Master Programme. In the event that the applicant decided to accept the MSM Fellowship, he/she must withdraw from the other financial aid.
6. Upon completion of the study, the recipient of MSM Fellowship must remain in Malaysia to work for the public or private sector for a minimum period of two (2) years. However, if the Fellow chooses to further his/her study immediately or while serving the service bond, he/she may write to the Engagement Committee for exemption.

How to apply?

• The complete application must consist of;
  1. Application form (MSM Fellowship).
  2. Certified copy of the academic transcript.
  3. A structured research proposal with maximum pages of four (4) pages with the followings:
     1. Introduction
     2. Problem Statement
     3. Objective(s)
     4. Methodology
     5. Expected Outcome
     6. Gantt Chart

• The decision made by the steering committee and the Kuok Foundation is final. No further correspondence or appeal would be entertained.
