A Gold Medal for T.I. School from IIDEX2017
Mohammad Aliff Shakir Mohamad Jamil Khir from Bioresource, Paper, and Coatings Technology (BPC) Division, School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia has recently been awarded a gold medal in Invention, Innovation, and Design Exposition (IIDEX 2017) which was held in Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor (DATC), Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam from 25-29 September 2017. The symposium attracted more than 700 entries from high schools, polytechnics, universities, and research centres from both local and abroad.
Research product developed by Dr Mardiana Idayu Ahmad and her co-workers (Dr Mohd Firdaus Yhaya, Dr Mazlan Ibrahim, and Ms. Nor Amalin Keling) was presented by a postgraduate student, Mr Mohammad Aliff Shakir through open pitching session and highly praised by the juries. The work entitled “Development of Hydrophilic Polymeric Membrane for Heat Recovery Application” or simply Hi-FiberClin is capable of lowering electricity bills for air-conditioning systems. The product has been applied for patent, benchmarked against commercial product and found to be superior while costing a whole lot less. This project has been fully sponsored by E-Science Fund MOSTI under Industry Cluster and expected to be commercialised soon.
