ECOPRO-USM WON GOLD AWARD IN IDRIS 2017

     Faris Aiman Norashiddin from Environmental Technology Division, School of Industrial Technology Universiti Sains Malaysia accolade a gold medal award in Innovation Design Research International Symposium (IDRIS 2017) which was held in conjunction with Malaysian Research and Innovation Society (MyRIS) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kuala Lumpur on 23-25 April 2017. The symposium, which was co-organized by World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA) and International Federation of Inventors' Association attracted more than 16 countries participants worldwide.

     Research product developed ECO-PRO USM led by Professor Dr Mahamad Hakimi Ibrahim, Dr Mohamad Anuar Kamaruddin and Mr Muhamad Hamzah Hamid was presented by an undergraduate student, Mr Faris Aiman Norashiddin through open pitching session and judged by 3 international jury. The product, known as Semi Passive Aerated Reactor (SPAR) is developed which aims to reduce 45% organic waste being dumped at the landfill. SPAR, consists of perforated bin which ensure better aeration and moisture content supported with optimum green and brown layering that able to produce quality compost. The theme “Waste to Wealth: Organic Waste Transformation into Value Added Product” also supports Green Agenda for a sustainable solid waste management in Malaysia.
