3 October 2025 | Lecture Hall S, PPTI, USM: The School of Industrial Technology (USM) proudly welcomes 229 new undergraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session. This year’s intake comprises:
• Food Technology – 63 students
• Environmental Technology – 61 students
• Bioresource Technology – 46 students
• Bioprocess Engineering Technology – 59 students
The session began with an inspiring opening by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusri bin Yusup, the Dean of the School of Industrial Technology. In his welcoming remarks, he introduced the school, its management team, and dedicated lecturers. He also shared his vision for the school, reminding students of the importance of integrity, resilience, and innovation as they embark on their academic journey at USM.
This was followed by an academic briefing delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uthumporn Utra @ Sapina Abdullah, Deputy Dean (Academic, Career & International). The session provided students with essential information on academic management, programme structure, and resources available to support their learning and career development.
After the briefing, students were divided into their respective programmes for a meet-and-greet session with Programme Chairpersons and academic staff. This allowed them to get to know their lecturers, understand the learning culture of each programme, and build early connections with their peers.
The orientation ended with advice and words of encouragement for the new students: embrace every opportunity, stay curious, and make the most of your time at USM.
