Course Details

  • Credit: 4
  • Semester: 1
  • Prerequisite: none

Synopsis

This course introduces the concepts of functions and limits of single variable. Linear, polynomial, logarithmic, exponential and trigonometry functions will be discussed. The focus will be on the understanding of concept and solving of differentiation and integration with applications. Students are then introduced to differential equations focusing on separable differential equation and first-order linear equations. Matrices and determinants are taught in solving systems of linear equations by using Gauss and Cramer methods.

Course Objective

This course extends on topics related to calculus, linear algebra, and common integral equation.

Lectures:
➤ Chapter 1: Functions and Graphs
➤ Chapter 2: Limits and Continuity
 ➤ Chapter 3: Differentiation
➤ Chapter 4: Application in Differentiation
 ➤ Chapter 5: Integration
 ➤ Chapter 6: Matrix

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Relate problem of differentiation and integration and understand the concept that integration is anti-differentiation.
2. Solve linear system problems using Gauss and Cramer methods, differentiation in finding tangents and maximum and minimum values in the context of optimization, integrations related to differential equations and applications.
