This course introduces biomass processing and modification through theoretical and hands-on laboratory experiences. Emphasis is placed on mechanical, chemical, biological, and hybrid techniques used to alter the structural, chemical, and physical properties of biomass. Students will evaluate treatment effectiveness and the quality of final products eg: pulp, paper, and fibreboard.
