IEA501/3 Atmospheric Science and Air Quality

Details

  • Credit: 3
  • Semester: 1
  • Prerequisite: None

Synopsis

This course discusses the relationship between the physical processes of the atmosphere and air quality. The student will be taught the structure, composition, atmospheric boundary layer, and energy balance of the atmosphere and apply them to model the dispersion of air pollutants using AERSCREEN and AERMOD models. A brief introduction to the state-of-the-science weather forecasting model, such as the WRF model (Weather Research Forecasting), will also be discussed.
