This course aims to describe concepts, processes and applications of technologies and geographic information, which include remote sensing, global positioning system, and geographic information systems in solving spatial problems. The course emphasises the application of digital remote sensing data in land use mapping and coastal zone management. It also discusses the application of GIS and GPS in urban and regional planning, business and service planning and assessment of socio-economic data in solving spatial problems. The skill acquired from this course allows students to assess and analyse spatial problems as well as look for solutions using technology and geographic information.
