Synopsis

This course focuses on topics of material strength, mechanical testing, and fracture mechanics of material. Particular emphasis is given to bending properties of various types of beams, such as straight beam and curved beam. These include the deflection of a beam, shearing force, and bending moment of a beam. In addition, the basic concepts of finite element method and its application to discrete structures will also be covered.
