Synopsis
This course teaches students to read, extract and write research-based articles for professional communication of food sciences. The learning outcomes are designed to incorporate the overarching skills of critical thinking, effective communication, and the understanding of food science written communications.
Course Objective
This course discusses basic principles and practices in writing that include research-based writing and the construction of academic, argumentative essays using primary, and secondary sources as evidence.

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding on key principles of scientific communication in the writing on food science and technology.
2. Apply reading, analyzing and information synthesis skills in academic writing in food science and technology.
3. Write basic academic argumentative essays using resources from food science texts.
