PPTI Lecturers Successfully Concluded a 3-Day Professional Training on Herbal Technology and Product Development


Herbaltech 2026, the second edition of the Professional Training on Herbal Technology and Product Development, has officially come to a successful close! Held from 26–28 August 2026 at the School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, this intensive three-day HRD Corp-registered professional training programme brought together 20 participants from academia and industry for an engaging and comprehensive journey through herbal technology, product development, quality evaluation, and regulatory compliance. The programme welcomed an industry collaborator – Progene Link Sdn. Bhd. and participants from diverse organisations including Fuciphagus Agritech Sdn. Bhd., Clean Q Grip (M) Sdn. Bhd., Delstasia Sdn. Bhd., JVMC Corporation Sdn. Bhd., P.C.M. Sdn. Bhd., Universiti Malaya, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Jazan University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, as well as freelance professionals and others. This diverse participation created a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and meaningful academia–industry engagement.

Participants explored the key stages of herbal product development through a combination of technical lectures, discussions, laboratory-based practical sessions, demonstrations, and networking:

  1. Module 1: Herbal Extraction & Chromatography Technology
  2. Module 2: Encapsulation & Electrospinning Technology
  3. Module 3: Quality Control – Chemical Marker & Biological Analysis
  4. Module 4: Food Product Labelling, Packaging & Regulation.

Together, these modules provided participants with a broader understanding of the journey. The programme was delivered by accredited and professional trainers who expertise in phytochemistry, food technology, and advanced formulation technology including Ts. ChM Dr Mohamad Shazeli Che Zain, Assoc. Prof. Dr Tan Thuan Chew, and Ang Tse Huey.

Herbaltech 2026 was designed not only to deliver technical knowledge, but also to bridge scientific research with practical product development. The interaction between participants from academia and industry created opportunities to share experiences, discuss real-world challenges, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations in the development of innovative, safe, quality-driven, and market-oriented herbal products for the food, nutraceutical, and cosmeceutical sectors. A heartfelt thank you to all 20 participants for your enthusiasm, active engagement, insightful questions, and valuable contributions throughout the three days. Your participation and energy truly made Herbaltech 2026 a meaningful and memorable experience.
